Lives and works in Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Klaus Staudt, born 1932 and living in Frankfurt am Main, has been one of Germany's leading constructive-concrete artists for many decades. His participation in exhibitions of the New Tendencies Avant-Garde movement (in Zagreb, Milan, Venice, Paris, etc.) brought him international acclaim in the mid-1960s. At that time, Klaus Staudt began to develop matrixed space shadow reliefs as the hallmark characteristic of his later œuvre. His artistic interest is to overcome the inherent two-dimensionality of paintings by utilising the light and shadow effect of raised features and thus also actively involving the observer.
